The Biliteral Cipher
Sir Francis Bacon invented six steganographic crypto methods for concealing private texts within publicly published books and essays. Fifth on the list was what he called the Biliteral Cipher, today known as the Binary Code. He is unrivaled as its inventor, and his implementation of Biformed Alphabets was, without doubt, the very first application of the Binary Code.
The Word Cipher
Sixth on his list of steganographic ciphers was the Word Cipher, which Bacon asserted was a superior code to the Binary Code. The cipher method receives a full description here for the first time, as well as its first independent cryptographic audit.
